2007-2008 Season Preview
2007-2008 Outlook
The Tigers will have a deep and versatile team heading into the 2007-2008 season. Leading the returners from a year ago is Central Valley Conference All-Freshman Cliff Hodge. Long and with excellent timing, Cliff came on strong last season.
Two newcomers at the guard position, Justin Ayers and Marquel Hoskins, bring with them the experience of being involved in 4-year programs a year ago. Their ability, and experience with play a big part in the Tigers fortunes.
Freshman Winston Demmin III, and Reedley High Graduate Richie Garcia, will provide the Tigers with a menacing front line. With veteran--and greatly improved strong man Trey Francke, along with slick ball handling 6-5 guard-forward Tyrell Vaughn, the Tigers have size, strength, and quickness.
Transfer Jamaal Siah (Southwestern CC, Oregon) brings experience and depth to the guard position. Siah brings excellent defense and a knack for hitting open jumpers to the group.
Freshmen Jonathan Alvarez, sharp shooter Cooper Steele, and Mr. Versatile Larry Ramirez all will contribute to the Tigers fortunes.
Adding to the mix are guards Cameron Crain and Joe Parker. Big Game Joe (Clovis West) will be counted on for his steady play when the pressure is on. Cameron should create all sorts of havoc with his speed and knack for making the tough shot.
Program Overview
While striding for our young people to grow, we also stride to be active on our campus and in the community. Past activities have included visiting retiring homes, helping with Holiday Food Drives, painting for local and charities, and visiting schools. In addition, we have incorporated a mentor program to help our student connect with faculty, and also to learn the all of important skills of networking.
If our myself, staff, our program, can be of any service to you or your group, please contact us, as we would love to lend a hand. Contact Coach Fonseca at 559/638-0354, or

CENTRAL VALLEY CONFERENCE NEWS:
Men’s Basketball “Players of the Week”
FRESNO CITY COLLEGE sophomore guard MARLON BURNETT (6-3, 200, Washington High School, Milwaukee, WI) and REEDLEY COLLEGE freshman guard MARQUEL HOSKINS (5-11, 175, Beloit Memorial, Beloit, WI), two transplants from “America’s Dairyland,” were selected Central Valley Conference Co-Players of the Week.
Burnett, a returning player from last season’s state-championship team, helped lead No. 3 Fresno (2-0, 20-5) to a pair of wins in the CVC’s opening week. In a 94-76 victory over Columbia (Jan. 9), Burnett scored 19 points (8-13 FG) to go along with a game-high seven rebounds and three steals. He also helped spark Fresno to a 108-60 win against Merced (Jan. 12) by scoring 14 points (6-8 FG) and adding a career-high six steals and three rebounds. He finished the week converting 14 of his 21 field-goal attempts (66.6%), and now averages 7.4 points per game for the state’s No. 5-ranked offense (88.1 ppg).
Hoskins is one of several newcomers leading No. 11 Reedley College (1-0, 13-4) to one of its best starts ever. He scored 23 of his career-high 27 points in the second half of Reedley’s 68-62 upset at Sequoias (Jan. 9) in the CVC opener. Hoskins finished the night 10-of-15 from the field, including 3-for-5 from the 3-point line. His back-to-back 3-pointers in the final minutes gave the Tigers a seven-point lead to seal the game. Hoskins (11.4) is one of five Tigers averaging at least 10 points per game.
